The Big Short is an ace film, almost as good as the book.

In it Christian Bale plays an investor who decides to look at what everyone else is doing (plus the facts staring everyone right in the face should they choose to look at them), and does the opposite.

It leads to him being labelled crazy and his theories ignored.

If you haven’t seen the film or read the book, but you know what it means to go short on something, and you know your global financial crisis (I preferred credit crunch) history – then you can probably guess what happens next.

I’m still a bit sceptical about going short on something mainly because the potential benefit is limited (where that thing goes to zero), whereas the upside on going long can be unlimited.

But I’m a big believer in looking around at what everyone else is doing, and finding ways to do the opposite.

It will make some people (usually friends and family) think you’re crazy, but unless they’ve achieved exactly what you’re looking to achieve (and even then in some cases), you should be sure to ignore their well-meaning advice and recommendations.

Seriously, make it your mission to ignore it.

Have conviction, be clear about how what you’re doing links back to your goals, and take a long-term view – especially when it comes to investing.

Sticking ten grand into something today and expecting to drive a Lambo out of a garage in a week or two is a very different type of crazy to what Christian Bale’s character was doing.

Plus, if you’re based in the UK and getting pretty fed up with all this governmental nonsense, why not do something totally different to anyone you know and invest in a copy of my Utterly Unregulated Investment Ideas physical booklet.

A bunch of the topics contained within it don’t even care what happens with Brexit or if something was unlawful or not – you have the same potential to prosper regardless of how all that plays out.

Sounds cool right?

Anywho, the discount code UUII150 to get £150 off the normal price will be deactivated after midnight tonight.

I will send my list of recipients to the printer tomorrow morning and get the booklets out in the post asap. The Create Your Own Bank bonus videos will make their way to your email inbox tomorrow morning.

There’s not long left to make this short decision:

All the best,

Stephen Wallis
